Marci's Application for Lincoln County Commissioner Vacancy
See Current Elected & Appointed Roles
Everything I do traces back to the idea that we each have a responsibility to help our communities thrive. It was a simple request made at a local civic luncheon during my senior year at Taft High School — that one of us receiving a community scholarship that day choose to return and invest in the place that invested in us. That idea stayed with me and ultimately inspired me to return home to Lincoln City after college.
I made a commitment to myself to do three things: create jobs, engage in local government, and volunteer in my community. Since returning home, I worked in many small businesses until, at 28, I started a business of my own. For almost a decade, I have gained practical experience with sole responsibility for my team, guests, vendors, and regulators. I understand operations, contracts, compliance, and the weight of decisions that affect livelihoods.
Entrepreneurship enabled me to not only create jobs, but to revitalize three commercial spaces, create inclusive venues and events, host fundraisers, and show up for our community in hard times. I have always committed to ensuring my assets best serve our community as a whole. When disasters, pandemics, or power failures disrupt normal systems, I use my resources to share meals and meet emergent needs.
My father served over 40 years in the fire service, the last 22 years here in North Lincoln County. Growing up with his example gave me a tangible understanding of what a commitment to public service truly means. When the Echo Mountain Fire Complex hit our community in September 2020, my reflex was to pause business operations, open our doors as a collaborative donation and distribution hub, ensure displaced families had what they needed, organize scattered community response efforts, and continue serving our regular menu for donations only.
My leadership style is practical, responsive, collaborative, and grounded in service, fueled by a great love for this place. We are all shaped by our experiences, and this community has undoubtedly shaped me.
